Lots have changed since then, as the current video cards are able to store up to 1GB of memory or even more, and are capable of providing real life graphics. As I said, there are many manufacturers of computer video cards but the biggest ones are ATI andNvidia, which hold more than 90% of the market.

There are many types of video cards and there are some things that you need to take in consideration prior to buying them. The budget is important because you have the option of buying cheaper video cards which can be good. Another thing that you need to take in consideration is your intention of using the video card for. If you like to play games then you will have to pay more money for a video card which will able to run the games. On the other hand, if you like to perform basic operations on your computer then there is no chance in buying an expensive video card.

You should also know that just like in the case of the other components, the video cards get outdated very fast, which means that a video card which is good today might not be good in a year or so.
